What do you do when someone you know gets the raw end of a medical diagnosis? I usually buy a card. You know, tots and pears. What if you’ve never met the person? In this case, I’m trying to raise money for the impending tsunami of medical bills.
Andy Andrist has cancer. He announced it on the Doug Stanhope Podcast this week and all I could think of is how can I help?
I’ve been a fan of Andy’s for years. His comedy isn’t for everyone, but it gets me through the day, week and month. Truth be told, no one tells a story like Andy. No one has stories like Andy. It’s a beautiful thing.
I’ve supported the man thru buying his comedy CD and latest special (The Last Shot, available at NatureJack.com for $5 with checkout code: Cancer), buying his t-shirts, supporting his podcast ($5 for 8 hours of content a month at Issues With Andy) and drunkenly Venmo’ing him cash. He’s that funny. I can never make up for all the belly laughs this man gives. But I can try.
So when I heard he has cancer, I wanted to help however I could. So I’m selling my author copies, signed, of The Pine Barrens Stratagem for a flat fee of $25. For each copy sold I am donating $7.50 to Andy. It’s a break even deal for me. Anything I would have made on the deal is going to him. Heck, the book isn’t even out for a month still. Win/Win in my book and yours.
Do the right thing. Be a patriot. Venmo me $25, before January 23rd and then write it off. I’ll mail you an autographed book. Maybe toss some wacky shit in the envelope, too. And if you have already pre-ordered the book have no fear. When it comes from Amazon or my publisher, drop it in your local neighborhood little library and BAM double the karma.
For your #AndristStrong Eve laughs, below are the opening of Andy’s special and then an animated snippet of one of his bits.
